Rachel Smiley, Manager of the Office of Contracts, UT Southwestern Medical Center
Rachel is currently serving as the General Counsel on our Board of Directors. She has been a board member since 2012, previously serving as Secretary for three years prior to becoming our General Counsel in 2015.
Rachael has been advising businesses and public institutions in variety of transactions and disputes since 2008. She currently serves as Manager of the Office of Contracts Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center, negotiating business service agreements on behalf of the University and its Hospitals.
Prior to her work at UT Southwestern, Rachael practiced commercial bankruptcy and business reorganization law at the Dallas offices of Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP and Stutzman, Bromberg, Esserman & Plifka, A Professional Corporation.
In addition to serving on the WFE board, Rachel is also on the Board of Directors for the DFW Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (“TMA”) as Programing Chair. She is a former board member and President of the DFW Association of Young Bankruptcy Lawyers (“DAYBL”).
Rachel attended Texas Christian University for her undergraduate degree, and Southern Methodist University for her J.D. We are so glad to have her on our board!
